Met office warning as mercury rises
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued an 'amber alert' for tomorrow, Wednesday, in 20 provinces in the eastern half of the country, where high temperatures are expected all day.
Nine autonomous communities will be affected by the rising temperatures - Madrid, Navarra, La Rioja, Huesca, Zaragoza, Lleida, Tarragona, Teruel, Guadalajara, Toledo, Albacete, Cuenca, Ciudad Real, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Córdoba, Jaén, Granada & Almería.
According to AEMET, Catalunya is set to be hit by a heatwave tomorrow, with temperatures of up to 38º expected in Lleida, 36.5º in Girona, 33.1º in Barcelona and 31.3º in Tarragona, with inland temperatures likely to reach 37º.
In Madrid, temperatures of up to 37º are expected in Henares and the south of the community.
Andalucia is another of the communities that will be affected by high temperatures, with 38º expected in the Valle del Almanzora and Los Vélez in Almería, in Guadix and Baza in Granada, in Cazorla, Segura and the Valle del Guadalquivir in Jaén.
The 'amber alert' also affects the community of Castilla-La Mancha with 38º degrees expected in Alcarria and Serrania in Guadalajara and Cuenca, Hellín and Almansa in Albacete, the Valle del Tajo in Toledo and the Valle del Guadiana in Ciudad Real.
