THINGS TO DO

In the village

Walking around the narrow and sometimes steep streets you can see that not much has changed around here for many years.
There are still two working olive mills producing olive oil which can be brought in the village along with locally cured hams, goat cheese and honey.

The village pool set in its own gardens is open from June to September.
Special events during the year include Holy week ( Easter ) with its many processions and in August for the village Feria ( Fair ).

Walking

Discover this area of outstanding natural beauty with its many marked trails, from gentle walks to long hikes along the river Turon and its many rock pools where you can expect to see a colourful variety of wild flowers.
For the more adventurous walker a five hour trek will take you high up into the Sierra de las Nieves which usually has a snow fall between January and March , and see the stands of rare Spanish fir ( Pinsapo ) you may also be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the shy Ibex and be rewarded with the breathtaking views.

Bird Watching

Birds of interest are virtually guaranteed with the weather and time of year dictating the number and type of species you will see, including various species of eagles.

The Coast

For a day out in the car within an hour you can reach the beaches of San Pedro De Alcantara and Marbella and sit and have a seafood lunch at one of the many cheringuitos (typical beach restaurant).

PLACES TO GO

Ronda

Visit Ronda for the day with its impressive 18th century bridge spanning the El Tajo gorge over 130 metres high. It has one of the oldest bull rings in Spain with its own museum and one of the best preserved Arab baths in Europe.

Spend some time browsing through the old streets with its very interesting shops selling leather goods, ceramics and all types of hand made Ronda style furniture.

The Lakes

A 40 minute scenic drive through the mountains will take you to the Malaga Lake District, where you can walk, swim, fish ( with permit ) or just sit and enjoy a good lunch overlooking the panoramic views of the lakes.

Visit nearby El Choro gorge with its sheer walls and other rock faces which attract rock climbers from all over the world.
