The Costa Azahar (or 'Orange Blossom') is the coastline of the provinces Castellon,
Valencia and part of Alicante between Alcanar
and Cabo de la Nao in Spain. Pensicola, Valencia and Castellon de la Plana are some of the region's larger and better known towns.
Large, flat plains dotted with orange orchards in the coastal regions give way to more mountainous and wild interior regions steeped
in history and remaining much the same today as they did centuries ago.
Unlike its neighbour, the Costa Blanca, the Costa Azahar is relatively unknown by British tourists and property investors and as such
remains comparatively un-crowded whilst still being easily accessible due to the international airport at Valencia. The (mainly) unspoiled area has white,
sandy beaches many orchards filled with lemons and oranges, fabulous countryside and a large number of protected parks and nature reserves.
The spectacular interior countryside of the Costa del Azahar is ideal for activity sports such as mountain biking, hiking and climbing
whilst Peńsicola, one of the best known and much loved resort on the coast, is home to a fantastic medieval castle which was used during the filming of
'El Cid'.
