The Costa Dorada region of the Spanish Mediterranean coastline is approximately 216 kilometers in length in the north-east of the
country and runs between Barcelona and Cambrils.
Although popular with tourists, the Costa Dorada is still less well known than the neighbouring Costa Brava and as such remains
comparatively unspoiled. The main coastal resorts located at La Pineda, Salou and Cambrils are easily reached via the nearby international airport at
Reus.
Salou, being the most popular and better known of the region's resorts has miles of sandy beaches and has a large selection of shops,
bars and restaurants along with plentiful accommodation.
Cambrils, in contrast, is a much smaller town with a long seafaring tradition. As fishing is the main economy of the town, Cambrils is
noted for its numerous and super seafood restaurants and visitors can see the catch being unloaded in the harbour each day.
Tourists and visitors to La Pineda are treated to two of the regions best theme parks Aquopolis (a fantastic water park) and Port
Aventura which is made up of 5 themed areas such as Mexico, Far West and Ancient China amongst others.
Tarragona can date itself back to Roman times and with a population of over 130,000 it is the main regional city of the Costa Dorada
region.
