How to Protect Yourself

scamsWhen dealing with booking enquiries, it is important that you have your wits about you as you may be at the beginning of a scamming process. Listed below are a few tips you can use to expose potential scammers, although do bear in mind that the vast majority of the enquiries you will receive through Rentaccomspain.com are from genuine holidaymakers who are interested in your holiday home.

  • Ensure you ask the holidaymaker for a phone number - and phone them on it to make sure it's genuine.

  • If you are asked for your bank details so a bank transfer can be made for payment - DON'T DO IT.

  • Let enquirers know that you will be cashing their security deposit cheque before they arrive in your holiday home and that you will return their money if all is well on their return. If they disagree with this, it could be that there is a problem - tread carefully.

  • Ensure enquirers understand that refunds are not made, for any reason, until cleared funds are received into your account. Disagreement usually means a potential scammer at work.

  • Don't be pressurised. Do business on your terms. Remain in control. It's your holiday home after all.

  • Only accept payments in the way you want to accept them. If holidaymakers can't respect this it's probably because they have something to hide.

  • Always remember to deal with transactions using your head, not your heart. If it sounds suspect, it more than likely is.
